Electronics Cooling from the Inside Out

图片
Electronic cabinets, or electronic enclosures, safely house electronics equipment inside a case for indoor or outdoor use. These units have a variety of uses, such as for housing the electrical components of a stop light, or housing the internal elements of a computer or other electronic equipment.  The cabinets help protect the electronic components from weather, human tampering, and dust. Most electronic enclosures require additional cooling pieces for the electronic items inside the box. If the electronic items get overheated, they can short out and cause problems with the unit. The cooling of the unit is extremely important, which is why so many casing companies focus on new and innovative cooling methods. Some newer electronic cabinets have cooling components built right into the casing system. These cooling systems contain air conditioning pieces that help maintain the desired temperature inside the unit no matter what the outside temperature is, or how hot the ...

How does a TEC (thermoelectric cooler) work? What does its parameter mean (Th, Q, or Delta T)?

A TEC (Thermoelectric cooler) is an application that harnesses thermoelectricity, more specifically, the Peltier effect. This is basically turning an electrical voltage input into a temperature difference. This is the converse of the Seebeck coefficient, which is turning a temperature difference into a voltage potential (used in Thermoelectric Generators). As for parameters for thermoelectrics in general, parameters would just be used to determine certain statistics for a specific scenario given. These would not only be used in calculating things like figure of merit (efficiency of the thermoelectric application, aka ΔZ), but also how effective your TEC would be. You asked about ΔT, Q, and Th. ΔΤ is the difference in temperature (i.e. your hot side is 200F, and your cold side is 20F, so 180 is your temp. difference). Q in this case could refer to either the charge/voltage of the application or some kind of heat factor. It would depend on your case to see what it would exactly mean. ...

Dry Transformers Cooling Fan

图片
Product Description GFD(S) Dry Transformers Cooling Fan GFDD490-150 Product descriptions: GFDD series crossflow cooling fan are designed for forced air cooling of transformers and equipments like power distribution cabinets, high and low pressure switchgear etc..They allow increasing about 40-50% of output power of dry-type transformer, which greatly improve the carrying capacity and extend the service life of transform. Features: - Large air flow allows the dry-type transformer to fully dissipate heat, increasing 45% -60% of capacity. - Various types of cooling fans are upon customers' request. Cooling fans vary from impeller diameter, airflow entry, and enclosure material. There are top and side blows for the cooling fans. Aluminum alloy and stainless steel enclosure is optional. - The airflow is blown into air duct of high and low voltage winding of transformers and that of winding and iron core at certain angle (45-60 ° horizontal sextant angle, which greatly incr...

Cabinet Air Conditioner FAQ

图片
Can I switch off the system at the main power point or at the fuse box? It is OK to turn the power off, especially if you are away for long periods. Most units have a low wattage crankcase heater that keeps the compressor warm. If the compressor is cold at start up damage may occur. If you turn off your air conditioner for long periods ensure its turned on at least 12 hrs before use. It is also okay to turn the power off to reset the system. I have a filter sign on my wall controller. This comes on after a certain amount of running hours. It is to remind you to check your filter for cleaning or replacement. It’s a good time to book a general service of your air conditioner, if you haven’t had one carried out within the last 12 months. If you have, you can clear the filter sign by pressing and holding the clear button for at least 3 seconds. Why is my system noisy? There are a few reasons why your system might be noisy, dependin...

FAQ About Electronics Cabinet

What temperature should I keep my electronics cabinet/closet below? This depends on the equipment you have, but the general rule of thumb is you don’t want the interior ambient temperature to every get above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  Some consider 90 degrees to be the max, and if you can keep the temperature in this range that is great, but our feeling is never let the temperature exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  Check with Component manufacture for their suggested maximum temperatures. Is the Pre-set Thermal Controller OK, or should I upgrade to the programmable LED controller? The pre-set controller is fine for a lot of applications.  The fans go on at 86-88 and off at 80-81 degrees, and this is a good temperature range.  Sometimes in warmer climates the fans may tend to stay on in the warmer months.  The LED controller allows you to program when the fans go on, and off, and in the above situation you can program a slightly higher on/off range.  Th...
